About This Wine
Some seriously pure wine here, silky, satiny with so much depth, yet wrapped in an easy drinking frame. This is a wine that says be damned to the strict AOC rules of the Languedoc.
From the young vines of the vineyard, hence the name, /\this is a wine of dark berry fruit, sweet tobacco, dried herbs and spice in a heady wild perfume.
While it may feel fruity upfront, the savouriness of the wine kicks in as it crosses the palate. Cracking wine from a cracking producer who marches to his own beat, and flips the bird to the rigidity of the region's regulations.
About Clos du Rouge Gorge
Cyril Fhal ,the man behind Clos du Rouge Gorge, is a bit of a legend in Latour de France, a village nestled in Roussillon region not far from the Pyrenees and Spain.
Kicking off his first vintage in 2002, he has proven that this region can produce bright, lithe and fresh expression of wines, also eschewing the AOC rules of Roussillon to focus on Grenache and Carignan.
It all starts in the vineyard for him, farming his century old plots biodynamically.
In the winery, he uses natural ferments, generally avoids oak influence, and uses minimal sulphur in his winemaking.
