About The Wine
Jim Chatto is one of Australia's most highly regarded living winemakers. Some of his recent releases may well come to be seen as some of the best wines of his generation. His winemaking ethos is simple and site driven: the very model of modern Australian wine.
His Tasmania Pinot is now also labelled Lutruwita, the indigenous name for Tasmania itself. It is a blend of fruit from three of his grower vineyard sites in Pipers River and West Tamar, both in the north of the island.
It's a bright, elegant style with oodles of fresh cherry flavours and a light plushness on the palate. The chalky tannins that are a feature of all his 2020 releases, frame a beautiful wine.
Only tiny amounts are available. Lovers of the finest Pinot Noir should not hesitate.
About Chatto Wines
Jim Chatto is revered as one of the finest winemakers currently working in Australia.
His recent reinvigoration at Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley has received phenomenal critical acclaim, as has his personal Tasmanian project, Chatto wines.
After purchasing a plot of land that Jim describes as "right on the edge of viticultural possibility", planting began in 2007.
In only a short amount of time, this site has produced some extraordinary wines and looks set to become one of the Apple Isle most prized viticultural assets.
