About The Wine
A cool orginal project wine here from BK. It's a distinctly Aussie take on the old Ripasso wine style.
It's not made like a traditional Ripasso, but the resulting wine is remarkably similar in flavour and weight.
He took some of his hefty Shiraz from 2015 that was still in barrel and ran it over brand new Pinot Noir grapes to infuse them with the Shiraz' chocolatey richness. It took around eight passes of this to the the jubey Pinot to fully take on the flavour. Then it was ready to press.
It's an odd-ball creation but if you love Ripasso's odd combination of richness and freshness, you'll get a kick out of this.
Only produced as a once off in 2020. Limited availability.
About BK Wines
BK Wines is one of the poster boys of the modern artisan wine movement in the Adelaide Hills.
Owner/winemaker Brendan Keys is not afraid to do things differently. His wines are all from single vineyards (some biodynamically farmed), fermented with wild yeasts, unfined and unfiltered, with extended skin contact and even clay fermentation eggs occasionally thrown in for good measure.
His wines are creatively imagined, an artist meets skateboarding punk rocker kind of vibe.
Brendan is one of the more respected producers of the Adelaide Hills avant-garde.
