So charming. Very good!

About This Wine
Cool alpine vibes, minerality, and a sharp stony character, these are core qualities that differentiate these Nebbiolo wines that come from the altitude of Lombardy to their more well-known cousins from Piedmont.
The Rosso di Valtellina from the Sega men of Barbacan, is both regionally and varietally distinct. Red fruits, pretty cool alpine florals, delicate spice, and of course, that cat tongue tannin profile that screams Nebbiolo.
It’s a breath of fresh air to be able to see these different expressions of Nebbiolo from Barbacan. We love the variety, and these wines present a brand new perspective on it.
About Barbacan
Angelo Sega, along with his sons Matteo and Luca, founded Barbacan in 2006 in the Valtellina Alps of Lombardy.
Farming 7 ha of vines on the steep slopes of the region organically and biodynamically, they cultivate, and showcase Nebbiolo, known locally as Chiavennasca, and other lesser known regional varieties Rossola, Rossolino Rosa, Brugnola and Negrera.
In this valley, surrounded by fierce mountains, the men of the Sega family take their role of representatives of the region seriously, believing their wines to be the vanguard of Valgella, one of the five sub-zones of Valtellina.
