About The Wine
A fresh and frisky red wine built for chilling and drilling in the warmer months comes to you here from young Dan Simmons.
Sangiovese is the grape, typically a very savoury, structured variety. Though here with a short maceration (just 5 days on skins) and a brief 5 month stint in old barrels before bottling, Dan has managed to capture all the bright cherry and raspberry notes that Sangiovese shows in its youth.
It's a fun times wine built for drinking in its youth. Get your picnic blanket ready, this is your next Sunday afternoon sipper.
About Balmy Nights
Balmy Nights is Sydney based sommelier-turned-wine-distributor-turned-small-producer, Dan Simmons', handcrafted wine project.
For his wines, he seeks out NSW vineyards that he feels offer something interesting. The fruit is hand-harvested, the winemaking is hands-off. He's delivering some very interesting alternative depictions of NSW wine.
Dan is part of a small but vocal cohort of young winemakers taking NSW wine into strange but delicious new territory.
