About The Wine
The Freeman vineyard in the Hilltops region of NSW is a happy hunting ground for many young producers looking for quality fruit.
Dan Simmons spotted himself some Sauvignon Blanc that he liked the look of. It was hand picked then left on skins for a week before pressing.
The final result is an amber wine that is very easy to get the hang of. Lots of passionfruit, some spicy jalapeno in the mix.
It's orange wine 101 from a fresh new NSW label.
About Balmy Nights
Balmy Nights is Sydney based sommelier-turned-wine-distributor-turned-small-producer, Dan Simmons', handcrafted wine project.
For his wines, he seeks out NSW vineyards that he feels offer something interesting. The fruit is hand-harvested, the winemaking is hands-off. He's delivering some very interesting alternative depictions of NSW wine.
Dan is part of a small but vocal cohort of young winemakers taking NSW wine into strange but delicious new territory.
