About The Wine

The Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir is blended for approachability.

This is a blend of Pinot Noir fruit from three vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. It offers the drinker a snapshot of the Adelaide Hills vintage and drinks beautifully from day one. It shows the classic house style of Ashton Hills; firm, structural and savoury though still ready to drink.

The Piccadilly Valley is the coolest sub-region in the Adelaide Hills, ideal for producing a more delicate style of Pinot Noir. In the hands of the region's finest Pinot producer, fruit from this iconic region sings.

About Ashton Hills

Just below the summit of Mount Lofty lies Ashton Hills, a vineyard that has become known as one of Australia's finest producer of Pinot Noir and cool climate whites.

Current winemaker, Stephen George, keeps his philosophy on winemaking pretty simple, with a focus on minimal intervention on the wine. The resulting wines are elegant and delicate representations of the unique site of the vineyard.

From The Producer

The Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from a few of the neighbours as well as a contribution from de-classified Ashton Hills Reserve/Estate parcels. Stephen George has taken great interest in applying his winemaking approach to parcels from elsewhere within the Piccadilly Valley and seeing how the wines compare with those from the Ashton Hills vineyard. The resulting blend benefits from varied fruit character and vineyard expression, while maintaining the fine tannin structure that is typical of the Ashton Hills style.

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"Strawberry and blackberry, plenty of spice, smoky wet leaves, or something of that ilk. It’s light and fresh, juicy and sappy strawberry, good crunch and freshness, rhubarb and more spice, fine emery tannin, and a savoury finish of good length. Lots of interest and drinking appeal. I’d say it’s at its best now, and over the next couple of years." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

The Real Review

"Light to medium ruby-red core, with a brick-red tint to the rim. Red cherry, bay leaf and crumbly clay aromas. Medium-weight but lashings of red cherry intensity. That settles into a savoury dry herb and charred meat complexity. Flows long and silky into a tannin driven dry finish." - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

Halliday Wine Companion

"Created from estate fruit trickled down from higher-end wines, as well as from a few Valley neighbours. Woody forest notes weave their aromatic feel through the black cherry fruits, a decent portion (40%) of whole bunches showing its stemmy impact. Bright and breezy, with the house style's even tannins." - Tony Love (Halliday Wine Companion)

If your order is placed before 12pm we’ll get it on the truck that day. Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). PLEASE NOTE that we are currently seeing significant delays in the Australia Post delivery network. Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.
