About The Wine
Organically farmed Chardonnay from the Le Clou lieu-dit in the village of Saint-Clément-sur-Guye, the original home of Stephane's wife Julie.
Layered with complex citrussy aromatics the palate here builds from lush ripe fruit through phenolic grip and finishes up with a bracing twang of pithy grapefruit.
It's delicious and energising and will reward those prepared to look outside the prestige appellations.
Aladame fine!
About Aladame
Montagny is the southernmost point of Cote Chalonnaise, a hilly terrain of clay and chalk that is classified to whites.
It is a region dominated by a single cooperative and Stephane Aladame is one of the few growers going it alone and he has attracted great attention.
Like all good growers Stephane’s efforts are concentrated in the vineyards, he works organically and by hand and horse. In the winery there is a minimalist approach akin to many of the great houses. Natural yeasts, minimal filtration, fining and sulphur are all commonplace.
Stephane makes super chardonnays that are often found on tables across France. Wines for those who drink what’s in the bottle, not what’s on the label.
