About The Wine
The Yeringberg Shiraz takes on a more European styling with winemaker Sandra De Pury using her many talents to make a Shiraz that really sings.
It's a smooth, seductive style of Shiraz showing ripe blue and red fruits, a lilting aromatic lift of herbaceous and floral notes and a bright, cutting line of well-balanced acidity.
If beefy, high alcohol Shiraz is your thing, perhaps look for another option. However, if you have a penchant for more refined expressions of the grape then walk this way.
There are few wineries in the Yarra Valley with the prestigious history of Yeringberg. The de Pury family were pioneers of the region, having one of the first vineyards in the region over 100 years ago.
The original vineyard was ripped out when the damand for Australian wine slowed to a trickle, however the site was replanted in the 1970s and is one of the great sites of the modern Yarra.
In James Halliday's opinion, "...(Yeringberg) are renowned for wines of finesse and elegance that epitomise the finest the region can produce."
