About The Wine
The 2019 vintage will go down as one of the great Hunter Valley vintages of the last few decades.
Young Angus Vinden took full advantage of the awesome conditions and put down what is probably his best suite of Shiraz releases to date.
Angus has produced a set of three single block Shiraz from the Sommerset vineyard to highlight the particular character of different aspects of his flagship site. One barrel of each was made.
The Northern block was planted back in 1968 on red-orange volcanic clay soils, over weathered limestone in Pokolbin. It's going to live for a long time. A classic in the making.
About Vinden Wines
Young Angus Vinden is the owner/winemaker of this much-loved Hunter Valley winery.
Having taken the reins from his father just a few years ago, Gus is reimagining his family's wine label with a string of exciting, modern wines coming out of his cellar.
He sources fruit from some of the Hunter's greatest vineyards, focusing on Semillon and Shiraz primarily as well as turning out a very good Tempranillo.
He's one of the young guns of the Hunter Valley that should have a close eye kept on him. His wines are on the up!
