About the Wine
With estates in both Tuscany and Sicily, Andrea Franchetti is a maverick. An innovator not afraid to question and challenge established wisdom, even in a place like Tuscany.
Biodynamically farmed, his Tenuta di Trinoro estate lies in a remote, stunningly beautiful part of Siena, bordering Umbria, and is planted to a Cabernet Franc-lead blend of Bordeaux varieties.
The Le Cupole, although being the estate's second label, is exceptional value. Rich, silky Super-Tuscan drinking beautifully now.
About Tenuta di Trinoro
Only establishing plantings in 1992 Tenuta di Trinoro sits in viticultural isolation in sheep grazing country where Tuscany meets Umbria and Lazio.
Andrea Franchetti deliberately concentrated his plantings around Cabernet Franc, where he sees parallels with the limestone and gravels of Bordeaux’s right bank appellations.
Sparing no expense and focused on exceptional quality, the vines are farmed biodynamically.
Tight planting, high thinning, very low yields, extreme ripeness, and concentration of flavour characterise his winemaking style. The wines are highly perfumed and opulent, at once approachable and meant to be left to develop in the bottle over time.
