About The Wine
When you think of Tuscan wine, you think automatically of Sangiovese, the grape that is common to most great Tuscan reds, and the true star of the region. Dig a little deeper, and Montalcino comes to the fore, as one of the most complex and age-worthy Sangiovese wines produced there.
The Talenti Rosso is emblematic of the region revealing perfumed ripe plum, cassis and kirsch, leather and cassis, and earthiness that meld into ripe strawberries, spices and minerals on the long finish.
A true expression of Montalcino, from one of the most influential estates in the region.
About Talenti
Purchasing the Pian del Conte estate in the 1950s, Pierluigi Talenti was always a true traditionalist, with his winemaking and viticulture.
During his time at Il Poggione Estate he concentrated on making elegant wines with finesse, as opposed to the bigger, more brutish and powerful styles that so prevailed in the region.
His constant learning and evolution was focused on the clonal variation found in Sangiovese, and this focus is what helped him continually improve his wines.
While now in the hands of his grandson Riccardo, that commitment to tradition continues as the third generation now tends to their 20ha of vines across the estate, working with the same passion and dedication to the Sangiovese grape that his grandfather bestowed upon the family.
