About This Wine
Pinotage can be quite a divisive variety. When poorly made it tastes of burnt rubber, yet when well-made, can be a unique and expressive grape.
This wine offers raspberry and ripe peach and black cherry flavours with subtle oak nuances, a ripe juice palate and a delicate lingering finish.
One of the grapes showing most potential in South Africa. While not everyone’s cup of tea, if it is grown and vinified correctly, it becomes an interesting wine with unique character, and this is a great example of that.
About Stellenrust
Established in 1928, Stellenrust is one of the largest family-owned wineries in South Africa..
With over 200 ha under vine (out of 400 total ha), their holdings are predominantly in Stellenbosch, but also high up in the Bottelary Hills, renowned for its cool climate, and late afternoon sea breezes swooping in from Cape Town.
With generations of winemaking history in their blood, they are a part of the history of South Africa, warts and all.
In recognition of historic wrongs, they have handed over 100 ha of land to their long-term farm workers to become majority shareholders in the production from the land.
