About The Wine
You may know Peter Schell and Spinifex for their earth-shatteringly good Barossa reds, but the man also knows how to make a mean white.
Pete and wife Magail purchased an old Eden Valley vineyard planted with excellent Riesling a few years ago and the results so far have been top notch.
This old vineyard crops ridiculously low, usually yielding less than a tonne per acre. The fruit is treated to varying ferments, some in old oak, some going through malolactic fermentation. The finished wine is unfined and unfiltered so you get to experience everything this fruit has to offer.
It is an astonishingly good Riesling.
About Spinifex
Spinifex are one of the 'New' Barossa's true pioneer producers.
Husband and wife team Peter Schell & Magali Gely have extensive experience in southern France, which proves the inspiration for their unique wines made from predominantly Rhone varietals.
Spinifex was on the front line of the new wave of Barossa producers. Peter's wines brought a new sensibility to the region, they were lower in alcohol, concentrated but elegant, and balanced to perfection.
He takes the art of blending into the realm of the virtuoso.
There are few wineries who deliver refinement and poise from the Barossa Valley like Spinifex.
