About The Wine
In characteristic Snake & Herring style, this is a bottle that tries to showcase the overlooked styles and subregions of Western Australia's Great Southern winemaking region.
The grapes for this ethereal take on cool-climate Syrah/Shiraz are a blend of three of Great Southern's gravel-soiled subregions: Mount Barker, Frankland River, and Porongurup. With a bit of carbonic maceration, a bit of whole bunch, a bit of old oak and a bit of new, this is a super slurpable drop full of juicy fruit-forward flavours underlined by some seductive savouriness and spice.
A natural fermentation and minimal interventions approach helps underscore the grapes' expression.
About Snake and Herring
Snake and Herring was founded in 2011 by two wine industry junkies, Redmond “Herring” Sweeny and Tony “Snake” Davis.
Compelled to walk away from their professional roles at the same time, Redmond and Tony decided to embark on a journey to create their own wine label. Over a parcel of epic Porongurup Riesling, an idea began to form. Many late night texts were exchanged and early morning vineyard rendezvous arranged and before long Snake + Herring was created and a Porongurup Riesling born.
