About The Wine
In the Savage White, Bordeaux meets the Loire Valley with its blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Chenin Blanc, creating a wine that you'll want to sip and savour, rather than glug.
It shows beautiful aromatics of citrus and stone fruits, as well as some savoury oatmeal and spice characters. The palate is buttery and rich, with a fullness in the mouth and a silky feel, balanced by vibrant acidity and some more citrus and stone fruit flavours.
If you're curious to try some white wines out of South Africa, it's difficult to get much better than the Savage White, a wine that deserves much attention.
About Savage Wines
Savage Wines is the venture of Duncan Savage, former winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards in South Africa, who started his own label back in 2011. From the beginning, his desire was to make classic and elegant wines, with a nod to the past, while also pushing boundaries to some degree. He sources a lot of his fruit from old vineyards, as well as ones at high altitude, with the focus in the winery being on minimal intervention.
Savage produces a wide range of wines from grapes expected - Syrah, Chenin Blanc, Cinsault – and unexpected – Touriga Nacional, Clairette Blanc, Viura.
