About The Wine
The Savage Thief in the Night Grenache Cinsault Syrah brings together three grapes from a classic Rhone blend to create a light, juicy and refreshing New World iteration.
Located north of Cape Town, the Citrusdal Mountains are part of the Western Cape wine region. The high altitudes help to provide a long growing season so that flavours can develop while acidity remains high. This wine proves that with its red-fruit aromas and flavours and the bright acidity, while also showing some depth with savoury tones such as some meatiness and herbs.
Give that the wine is somewhat reminiscent of a Pinot Noir, the Savage Thief in the Night Grenache Cinsault Syrah will delight those who are after a light but delicious drop.
About Savage Wines
Savage Wines is the venture of Duncan Savage, former winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards in South Africa, who started his own label back in 2011. From the beginning, his desire was to make classic and elegant wines, with a nod to the past, while also pushing boundaries to some degree. He sources a lot of his fruit from old vineyards, as well as ones at high altitude, with the focus in the winery being on minimal intervention.
Savage produces a wide range of wines from grapes expected - Syrah, Chenin Blanc, Cinsault – and unexpected – Touriga Nacional, Clairette Blanc, Viura.
