About the Wine
The Sara Vezza Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC immediately presents itself with a heady mix of cherry fruit and earthy goodness. With fruit sourced from several of the family's vineyards, you get the feeling that you are actually in the vineyard when you drink it.
It's an elegant and pure wine which, given that it's a DOC, is supposed to be more "simple" than DOCG offerings, but the complex aromas and flavours, bright acidity, and fine tannin structure suggest that a lot has been packed into the bottle. Due to its Italian origins, it will go very well with antipasti, pasta, and poultry dishes.
About Sara Vezza
Sara Vezza comes from a long line of farmers in the commune of Monforte d’Alba in Piemonte. Her mother, Josetta Saffirio, decided to stop selling their grapes to other wineries and instead began making wine herself, gaining notoriety in the 1990s for her "vin de garage" Barolo.
Sara shares the responsibility to the land of her forebears, endeavouring to make wines that speak of their origin while leaving the soil in better condition than how she found it. As she says, "Wine is a life force, rich in micro-organisms that allow it to evolve. For this reason it is necessary to work the land with great responsibility towards future generations."
