"The 2019 vintage is the best vintage I have ever tasted for German riesling in my four-decade career."
About The Wine
This is the estate's 'Ortswein', or 'village wine', which is the Kiedricher part of the name, Kiedrich being the historic village location of winery and vineyards. And when we say historic... founded in 907 AD.
Linear, concentrated dry Riesling, with ringing, integrated acidity. More on the stonefruit spectrum with nectarine, peach flavours among the citrus cut. Excellent aging prospect.
Fruit is from the younger parts of their three classified sites, and some first-pick old vine material. One third of the cuvee was raised in large Stockinger wooden casks.
About Robert Weil
Weingut Robert Weil is one of Germany's, and the world's greatest white wine producers, focusing on just one grape variety - Riesling.
The estate was founded in 1867 by Dr Robert Weil in the beautiful village of Kiedrich, on the north side of the Rhine River, in the historic Rheingau region. Today, the estate is run by the fourth generation Wilhelm Weil, who meticulously oversees 90 hectares of Riesling, and wine releases across all sweetness formats.
Their greatest sites can be found in the foothills of Taunus mountains, the three famous vineyard sites of Kiedricher Turmberg, Kiedricher Klosterberg and Kiedricher Grafenberg.
These are epic wines, particularly the GG Grafenberg, and recent vintages are some of the best ever.
