About The Wine

The time for Rose is approching fast, though this might not last until spring!

It's an insanely delicious delivery of a pink wine from Matt & Danielle at Forlorn Hope. The grapes make up this beauty consists of mostly Zinfandel, Grenache, and Tempranillo, with a few other bits and pieces from the Rorick Heritage vineyard thrown in for a little seasoning.

It's a hyper-coloured electric Rose that cracks through the mouth at break-neck speed.

Dry, crckling with energy and imbued with subtle complexity that will make you want to look at it again and again. Want to think while you drink pink? Get your laughing gear around this!

About Forlorn Hope

Matthew Rorick is one of California's rockabilly winemaking superstars.

His love for the unloved and obscure varieties dotted around his homeland combined with his stripped-back, bare-knuckle winemaking style have seen his small batches of 'Rare Creatures' develop a feverish cult following in the US of A.

These rogue wines of California are some of the most exciting in the state. The Queen Of The Sierra Estate wines are grown on Matt Rorick's garden of Eden Heritage vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. The fruit is farmed without chemicals, the wines re untinkered-with aside from a dash of SO2.

Want rockabilly wine made with real heart and soul? You've found it.

Additional Info

From The Producer

The 2019 Queen of the Sierra rosé was organically grown on the Rorick estate vineyard in Calaveras County at 2000’ elevation, featuring soils comprised of a layer of schist over dolomite-rich limestone. Composed primarily of Zinfandel, Grenache noir, and Tempranillo, the wine shows all of the aromatic complexity and textural presence that are the hallmarks of wines grown on the limestone of our estate. It presents a wonderful dynamic tension between an entry that displays a hint of roundness and the bright, electric acidity that makes up this wine’s backbone.

"Watermelon juice! Yum. Crisp texture, vibrant, squeaky feel to the wine. It has that incredible, plugged-into-electrical-socket neon pink colour too. I love that. Good web of tannins making things tight and puckering to close. Light spice through the wine, the vibe of rose hip tea. I dunno, it’s just so damn delicious, so drinkable, so good." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
