About This Wine
Inspired by the poet Allan Ginsberg, who coined the term ‘Flower Power’ for the counterculture revolution of the 1960’s, this wine is about simplicity, and the immediacy of drinking now.
Very much an aperitif style of wine, it has the classic pale pink colour, with notes of tropical fruit on the nose followed by floral tones. Easy drinking, with crisp acidy and a happy mouthfeel. Lively fresh, with a touch of minerality.
Ginsberg once said; “You too must seek the sun...”.. don’t mind if I do, especially with this wine alongside me.
About Podere 414
During the agrarian reform in 1960s Italy, families were given land which was assigned by plot numbers, hence the name Podere 414, indicating the block of land.
These families inherited totally wild and uncontaminated lands and they adopted a subsistence farming model to honour the traditions of the region.
In 1998 Simone Castelli, together with wife Mara, purchased the plot and set about planting the varieties most suitable to the character of Maremma.
Farming their vineyards organically, they aim to produce wines that are truly reflective of their site.
