About This Wine
The 1er Cru Fourchaume vineyard is known for producing aromatic wines with depth and character and Pierrick Laroche reflects this admirably.
Terroir driven, it’s all about a fine aromatic mix with flinty soil tones, a touch of straw and white florals. On the palate the wine is bright, deep and full-bodied, with an excellent core of fruit, fine grip, bright acids and a long, complex finish that hangs around for days.
Succulent and paired with a fine undercurrent of minerality, the acid backbone is the finishing element to an exceptionally balanced and structured wine.
About Pierrick Laroche
A rising star in Chablis, Pierrick Laroche released his first wines from the 2010 vintage to great acclaim.
He has 33 ha under vines across seven Villages vineyards in Chablis, including multiple 1er Cru vineyards, and a single Grand Cru vineyard (Bougros).
A 2nd-generation winemaker, Pierrick took over the family estate, Domaine des Hates, which was established by his father in 1970.
All movement in the winery is via gravity, and while the majority of wines are vinified in tank, he does utilise small amounts of oak for his Cru wines.
