About The Wine

Elegant, pristine Geelong Chardonnay from Mulline Vintners, and specifically the talent of ex-Clyde Park winemaker, Ben Mullen.

The fruit source is the Nurringa Park vineyard in Portarlington out on the cool Bellarine Peninsula.

Naturally fermented on full solids then aged in french oak for nine months, but this shows in the length and structure rather than aromatics and flavours.

It is a cool climate, white-fruited, citrus-driven absolutely brilliant Chardonnay.

About Mulline

Established in 2018 Mulline Vintners is a double dose of Bens, specifically winemaker Ben Mullen and business brain and wine drinker Ben Hine. Mullen has experience from around the globe, and was most recently winemaker at Clyde Park.

They source fruit from around the Geelong area of Victoria with a focus on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, working with growers farming sustainably and organically. All steps of the winemaking operation are done with a major focus on looking after the environment.

Their first releases from the 2019 vintage were met with some acclaim - they are definitely young guns to watch out for.

To prevent embarrassment and to encourage rapping couplets... Mulline rhymes with “divine”.

From The Producer

“I want to showcase the vast difference between the subregions of Geelong, as I felt there wasn’t enough acknowledged definition between the Geelong, the Moorabool Valley and Bellarine Peninsula. There is no hiding anything when you are making a wine from one site and one single batch, which shows a pure expression of the soil the wine comes from.” - Winemaker Ben Mullen

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"Portarlington is on the Bellarine Peninsula side of the Geelong region; a distinctly different locale to the Bannockburn/Moorabool Valley side.First and foremost it’s an elegant chardonnay though its flavours push confidently out through the finish. Persistent it most certainly is. Pear, grapefruit, apple and (modest) cedar-cream characters flow throughout, complemented by barley and peach. It has the tension to emphasise its quality." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Halliday Wine Companion

"Selective-harvested, pressed direct to oak (30% new Austrian) with full solids at 10 degrees C for wild yeast fermentation, sulphured but sat in oak without movement. This is a wine initially all about mouthfeel/texture/structure until the back-palate and finish when pithy grapefruit notes break free to populate the aftertaste with all manner of primary fruit, juice and zest contesting first place." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

If your order is placed before 12pm we’ll get it on the truck that day. Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). PLEASE NOTE that we are currently seeing significant delays in the Australia Post delivery network. Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.
