About The Wine

This is an absolute steal of a wine.

This is a blend of Grenache (75%), and Syrah from selected biodynamically farmed vineyards in the Rhone Valley. There's something magical about these wines from Mas de Libian. They have a sense of life and energy that is palpable. Not to mention, the effortless purity that you see in the glass.

The name 'Bout d’Zan' refers to the patriarch's nickname as a kid, however, today it refers to the lick of licorice that the winemakers see in the wine each year.

It's a red wine that makes you want to sit a swirl. A rosy, cherried, lighter frame Grenache blend that shows the efficacy of gentle farming and low intervention winemaking. Spring and Summer in red wine form. Brilliant stuff for the dollars asked.

About Mas de Libian

Mas de Libian is an historic, family owned farm and winery in the Ardeche region of the southern Rhone, to the west of the river flowing south, up towards the rocky centre of France.

The Thibon family have been here since 1670, and current winemaker Helene Thibon now looks over 25 hectares of lovingly maintained, horse-ploughed chemical-free vineyards - all certified organic and biodynamic.

They focus of the traditional southern Rhone varieties of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise and Vaccarese, and release lo-fi wines of real purity and interest. A la votre!

"No worries! This is a red wine that can be set aside and aged for many years, but you can also (very easily) drink it now. It’s good-humored and enjoys good company; it will be joyful as an aperitif at a picnic, will be happy with a last-minute meal with friends, yet will not lose its personality or presence if invited to dine with the mother-in-law." - Mas de Libian

If your order is placed before 12pm we’ll get it on the truck that day. Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). PLEASE NOTE that we are currently seeing significant delays in the Australia Post delivery network. Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.
