Harmonious and poised.
About This Wine
The Grand Cru of Bougros in Chablis is a truly exceptional site. Right in the heart of the region, this is the most north westerly of the seven Grand Cru vineyards.
Concentrated and complex, this truly is apex wine from Chablis. It often gets lost in translation, the subtle differences between Grand Cru, Premier Cru etc. Yet, there are times when a singular wine is so expressive, no matter your level of Chablis nerdiness, we’re able to understand the special character of what’s before us in the glass.
While there is much to appreciate with this wine right now. Its true character, and special nature is something that we’ll need patience to be rewarded with over the next decade or so.
About Pierrick Laroche
A rising star in Chablis, Pierrick Laroche released his first wines from the 2010 vintage to great acclaim.
He has 33 ha under vines across seven Villages vineyards in Chablis, including multiple 1er Cru vineyards, and a single Grand Cru vineyard (Bougros).
A 2nd-generation winemaker, Pierrick took over the family estate, Domaine des Hates, which was established by his father in 1970.
All movement in the winery is via gravity, and while the majority of wines are vinified in tank, he does utilise small amounts of oak for his Cru wines.
