About The Wine
It was supposed to be Gamay that Jasper Button was grafting onto some established vines on a neighbouring vineyard in the Basket Range of the Adelaide Hills. Supposed to be...But on closer inspection around vintage time, Anton Van Klopper thought the leaves suspiciously like those of a Bordeaux variety.
"Jasper, you sure that's Gamay you grafted over few a months back?" said Anton. "Coz that looks and tastes a lot like Cab Franc to me, mate."
"Whoops!" came the sheepish reply from Jasper. But it's turned out to be a happy mishap. The Cabernet Franc is just lovely - all pretty and perfumed and juicy as can be.
