About The Wine
From 25 year old vines farmed, by hand, on the doorstep of Dominique Lucas' property.
Classically light and fresh, Chasselas is taken up a gear with the fruit displaying rich citrus notes and real pith and nerve. There is an additional salty, oxidative note from elevage in a combination of concrete eggs and neutral demi-muid barrels which adds great complexity.
A wine that defies expectations,
About Les Vignes de Paradis
5th generation winemaker Dominique Lucas has found his vinous home in Savoie on the border with Switzerland. He bought Les Vignes de Paradis in 2008 and has farmed the estate biodynamically since. The hero variety is Chasselas but he plays with plenty of other varieties too.
Dominique vinifies his grapes in an array of different amphorae, barrels, and concrete eggs, without following any specific path, rather trusting his intuition and intent. The lo-fi line up at this estate reads like a who's who of Chasselas so if you're interested to see just how diverse this underrated variety can be, start here.
