About The Wine

Another spot-on Fiano here from one of South Australia's brightest emerging producers - Jericho.

We've seen some outstanding Fianos from McLaren Vale, Riverland and even Clare Valley, but the Adelaide Hills has enormous potential with the Italian variety as well. This comes from Kuitpo in the southern end of the Hills, closer to McLaren Vale where, as Neil Jericho explained to us, the later ripening conditions really suit Fiano.

If you're looking for a versatile, introductory Fiano to try you could hardly do better than this. Textural, full-flavoured yet fresh as a daisy - it's a lovely, well-balanced wine.

About Jericho

Jericho is one of the most exciting emerging producers in South Australia, consistently churning out delicious, characterful and brilliantly priced wines in all styles.

Family owned and run with experienced winemaker Neil Jericho at the helm, they source both traditional and alternative varieties from various vineyards around McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Neil sums up the Jericho philosophy: “in every wine I like to see varietal flavour and character. I don’t want to overpower the fruit with oak. It’s got to be in balance, with nothing sticking out. They’ve got to be drinkable!”

Modern, creative and smashable wines and across the range, amazing value.

From The Producer

To showcase the fresh varietal characteristics of this style of wine, deliberate, simplistic winemaking techniques were implemented with minimal intervention. Fermented in stainless steel to maintain freshness, on fine lees giving complexity and intensity and bottled soon after fermentation to retain the freshness.

Blended from two small neighbouring vineyards in the southern Adelaide Hills. Harvested at slightly different times allowing full ripening and developing complexity and variety of flavour. The elevation and cool climate of these vineyards in gives elegance and lets the varietal characters of the grape show in the rest.

Lovely aromatics of stone fruit and fresh herbs. On the palate freshly cut stone fruit of apricots and peaches, a touch of pear and lime with lovely structure and texture in the mouth. The wine finishes with lovely texture and fresh acid balance. The palate is fresh, with rich stone fruits and citrus and clean, crisp acidity.

Blend : Fiano (100%)
ABV : 13.5%
Closure : Screw Cap

The Wine Front

"Juicy, slippery white of nashi pear meets ginger characters, relatively light even with the glossy texture and shows good length and a great deal of interest for a drinker. Feels like one of those ‘that sounds interesting’ wines off a suburban bistro/wine bar list. Done well here." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
