About The Wine
This supple, stylish Syrah hails from vines planted, on average, half a century ago on the banks of the Doux River.
Vigneron Souhaut is a master of controling textures in his red wines, keeping the palate light and fresh whilst harnessing the density and power of his fruit. This is a very fine example of his prowess as a craftsman.
This presents as wonderfully aromatic with purple flowers, crushed rocks, dark forest fruits and smooth, suede tannin. It's a gorgeous, seductive representation of Syrah outside of the famed blue-chip regions of the Rhone - hence the great value on offer.
About Herve Souhaut
Hervé Souhaut is one of the most respected minimal interventionist producers in the Rhone Valley.
He started his operation in 1993 with a tiny five hectare holding of 50-100 year old vines in Northern Rhône and the southern Ardèche.
He farms his plots meticulously and organically - transmitting a sense of place with absolute clarity through his considered hands-off approach to winemaking. The wines all display a raw energy that has seen them become favourites amongst many collectors around the world.
This is the Rhone Valley re-imagined by a modern master.
