About The Wine
The Timotheus blend its a textural, tactile wine that straddles the line between amber and white. It's a melding of Grüner Veltliner and Weissburgunder from 40 year old organic vines tended by the Gut Oggau duo.
A third of the fruit spent three weeks on skins, while the rest was pressed straight to old oak.
It's chewy yet remarkably fresh, showing spice and orange citrus characters alongside green apple and melon.
This is a detailed and deeply interesting thing to sip on. Only a tiny allocation made it to Australia this year - don't hesitate.
About Gut Oggau
Gut Oggau is one of Burgenland's finest cult producers. Eduard Tscheppe & Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck took over Vineyard Wimmer, a 13-hectare estate near the banks of Lake Neusiedl, in 2007.
In the intervening years, they have converted the vineyard to biodynamics (Demeter certified) and set about producing some of Burgenland's most electric lo-fi wines.
Raw, charismatic and lively, the Gut Oggau Australian allocations come and go in the blink of an eye.
