About The Wine

Unoaked and aged on lees, this is another great value wine from father and son duo Guilhem and Jean-Hugues Goisot.

Their Aligoté often gets overlooked, which is a shame, as it is firmly a core part of their overall line-up. Full of gently ripe white peach, Meyer lemon peel and vivid white florals. It’s quite plush, with a distinct mineral component similar to the chalk dust from a blackboard eraser, though it a really nice way. At its core is that limestone characteristic that defines the soils of the region..

A great value wine that shouldn’t be overlooked for more well known Burgundian regions or producers..

About Domaine Goisot

Guilhem Goisot is one of the rising stars of Burgundy, his family vineyards and winery located in the tiny Saint-Bris appellation, not far from Chablis.

Along with his father, the highly-respected Jean-Hughes Goisot, Guilhem is crafting some of the best value wines coming out of Burgundy at the moment. With a heavy focus on biodynamic farming, these wines from lesser-known Burgundian appellations are some of the hottest property in French wine today.

In fact, France’s leading wine guide, Revue du Vin de France’s Classement des Meilleurs Vins de France has Goisot rated higher than all but 2 other producers (Both Chablis Cru producers), in the Yonne section of the guide.

If you want high-quality white Burgundy that won't destroy your bank account, these wines are a must-try.

From The Importer

Goisot's electric, old vine Aligoté is drawn from parcels of 40- and 92-year-old vines, planted on the high, cool slopes of St Bris. Aligoté is notorious for requiring old vines and the right soils to produce wines of high quality, and Goisot's holdings--in the lieux-dits of Croix Rougeot, Côte de Coutance and Côte de la Canne--nail the brief. The soils are made up of ancient, limestone rich clays, littered with fossilised oyster shells (i.e. limestone). Goisot's biodynamic management and commitment to harvesting ripe, results in a far more textured, pulpy and sexy wine than you might normally associate with this variety. As always, this was fermented with its native yeasts and raised entirely in tank.

The 2019 Bourgogne Aligoté had been bottled the previous day and comes from 50- to 95-year-old vines. It has a striking bouquet of expressive lime, Nashi pear, honeysuckle and pink grapefruit aromas - so vivacious. The palate is well balanced with a spicy entry, offering ginger and lemongrass, notes of white peach, gooseberry and dried apricot and a spicy finish. Excellent." - Neal Martin (Vinous.com)
