About The Wine
Chardonnay may be Gareth Belton's specialty variety.
He has perfected a beautiful approach to crafting these single vineyard expressions of the variety from across the Adelaide Hills. His methodology is a simple one. The fruit is whole bunch pressed straight to large format oak and left to hang out, undisturbed, for almost a year before bottling.
The idea behind this simple approach allows the differences in the vineyards he works with to shine. The Ashton Chardonnay is the richer of the three releases this year, with a little more generosity on show as a young wine. Though, in the context of modern Adelaide Hils Chardonnay, it's on the lighter end of the spectrum, this is a beautiful, elegantly crafted wine that shows Adelaide Hills Chardonnay ina delicious light.
About Gentle Folk
Deep in the rolling vineyards of the Basket Range in the Adelaide Hills lives Gareth and Rainbo Belton.
They are two of the country's leading experts in seaweed who caught the wine bug a few years ago and now run a winery making small batches of fun and creative wines with their friends in the Basket range.
Gareth farms their three vineyards himself. He works organically in the vineyard and with little to no additions in the winery. The Gentle Folk wines have an energy and style all their own.
Made for drinking with friends and family, these are clean, unpretentious and delicious wines built for fun times. Get involved and be Gentle with each other.
