About the Wine
The main distinction between this wine and the others offered by Domaine d'Orfeuilles is oak use. Where most of their wines see time in old oak to build texture, this is fermented and kept in stainless steel to emphasise freshness. There is some complexity here, though, from months spent on lees after ferment.
The fruit is sourced from a few vineyards in Vouvray, mostly with limestone and siliceous clay soils. This has given the wine a gorgeous generosity and nervy acid structure, which works beautifully to rein the flavours in. Think pears, quince, fennel and sweet cardamom and you'll get the idea. You can drink this with confidence now, but feel free to tuck a few bottles away for cellaring.
