About the Wine
The Domaine de Bellene Savigny Les Beaune Blanc is sourced from four vineyards within the Savigny-les-Beaune commune, planted between 1960 and 2010. The combination of different ages of vines results in a variety of aromas and flavours in the wine. All plots were harvested on the same day and the grapes were gently pressed, with gravity used to move the juice.
In the winery, the Domaine de Bellene Savigny Les Beaune Blanc sees around 10% new oak and 100% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, giving it lovely creamy notes. The wine also shows hints of apple and herbs, with an elegant palate that will match well with a range of foods.
About Domaine de Bellene
Domaine de Bellene (the old name for Beaune) was set up by Burgundy winemaker Nicolas Potel in 2005 and was originally named Domaine Nicolas Potel - this was changed to avoid confusion with the negociant business Maison Nicolas Potel. The Potel family became famous due to their ownership of Domaine de La Pousse d'Or. The Burgundians know how to confuse...
The winery is located in an historic building in the centre of Beaune and ur estate is set in very old and historical buildings bought in 2006, and located at street Faubourg Saint Nicolas in Beaune. Their 24 hectares of vineyards stretch across many appellations and are all focused on organic farming - Potel's goal is for Bellene to be Burgundy's first outright major organic Domaine.
They represent some of the best value Burgundies we've seen in a while.
