About the Wine
The Corofin Folium Vineyard Chardonnay proves excellently that Marlborough is suited to more than just Sauvignon Blanc. This is a ripe and rich wine with complex flavours across the citrus and stone fruit spectrum, supported by vibrant acidity and well-integrated oak. This beautiful wine will continue to develop in bottle for several more years.
With Marlborough's reputation for making huge quantities of wine that don’t necessarily reflect their origins, Mike Paterson and his brand Corofin are trying to show what can be achieved in the region, with a lot of hard work and a deep concern for the environment, thanks in no small part to the tireless work of vigneron Takaki Okada.
About Meltwater/ Corofin
Corofin is the ongoing project from the hugely likeable Mike Paterson, who is dedicated to making the best single vineyards wines in Marlborough, in a region where that is a true rarity.
According to Mike - "our ambition with all Corofin wines is to transmit a sense of place first, over fruit intensity or winemaking ambition. We have chosen to work with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay being the two varietals we believe will amplify the transparent expression we seek from the land.
We are excited to be working with trusted and admired friends as growers. Their vineyards are all located in Marlborough's southern valleys and we hope our little Pinot Project will shine a light on some pretty special spots in the region our family calls home."
