So very, very pleasing.
About The Wine
The Combes Dem Roses is a light, pale Pinot Noir Rose from the Yarra Valley.
This fruit comes from some excellent vineyards in the Upper Yarra Valley, God's country for growing Pinot Noir.
It gets a little work in the winery, some funky, smoky savoury notes poke their head out, but the finish is cool, crisp and clean as a whistle.
Loving Rose that's more than just a tutti-fruity adult cordial? This should make you think a little as you drink a lot.
The Combes wines are made by thoughtful young avant-garde wine producer, Oscar Hermann.
Sourced from excellent vineyards in the Yarra Valley and farther afield, Oscar takes a minimal intervention approach to his winemaking practice.
The wines coming out of his cellar are excellent. They are raw, energetic and show a distinct sense of place. Each bottle you open feels like it's a living thing. Each vineyard he showcases shines in the glass.
As Mike Bennie once wrote about his eclectic suite of wines, "you should dive in."
