About the Wine
This is an absolutely beautiful rendition of cool climate Chardonnay from Jeff Byrne.
The fruit sees some whole bunch action, then goes to rest in oak for 9 months, imparting the wine full of texture, phenolics and an added 'je ne sais quoi'. It's filled to the brim with charm and personality.
Think more green apples and melons than ripe stone fruit, with a fresh mineral crispness. Just like Jeff's reds, it's an easy going and relaxed number with drinkability in spades.
About Byrne Farm
Just a couple minutes outside of Orange, on the slopes of Mount Canobolas - an extinct volcano - is Byrne Farm.
After earning his stripes at multiple other wineries in the Hunter Valley, owner/winemaker Jeff Byrne decided to venture out on his own - making the move to Orange with his wife, Bridgette, and their three daughters, Caitlin, Lauren and Bree.
Their first vineyard was only planted in 2020, its high altitude and ferrous soils making it a prime place for Jeff to work his magic with Pinot and Chardonnay.
Jeff is passionate about crafting stellar cool climate wines on his special patch of land, with the help of friends and family along the way.
