About

About The Wine

Bindi has become one of the Macedon Ranges' most iconic wineries since it's first plantings took root in 1988.

The Bindi Original Plantings Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from the '88 plantings. It's a wine of intensity and savoury structure, the long ripening time in the region giving the fruit an immense depth of flavour and silky texture which has been captured beautifully in the bottle by winemaker Michael Dhillon.

It's a wine that unfurls beautifully in the glass to reveal a kaleidoscope of Pinot Noir flavours, from dusty, earthen tones, to sweet red fruit. It's one of the region's and the country's finest Pinot Noirs, no doubt about it.

About Bindi

The first vines on Bindi vineyard were planted in 1988 by vigneron Michael Dhillon and his father Bill. The family farm, purchased in the 1950s in the Macedon Ranges, today plays home to some of the country's most precious Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines.

A deep connection to family and place underpins everything that vigneron Michael Dhillon does. His fastidious vineyard management and precision in the winery has seen his label rise over the years as some of the leading examples of Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, setting a new benchmark for all Australian producers to strive for.

The wines of Bindi have been heralded the world over for their rare power and clarity. They now find pride of place in some of the world's most discerning cellars. These are collectable, cellar-worthy wines that showcase the unique character of one of Australia's great vineyard sites.

Additional Info

From The Producer

The Original Vineyard has over its history become know for its signature perfumed bouquet and silky, pure palate. This relatively quartz riddled, gently north sloping three acre vineyard produces very fine, spicy, fragrant wine that has high natural acidity and develops beautifully given 6-10 years careful cellaring. As it ages the depth of aroma increases in and the palate becomes increasingly harmonious and is characterized by a sweet fruited, textured flourish. In comparison to the Block Five this wine is more seductive and delicious in its youth whilst still significantly rewarding cellar time.

The wine spends 15-17 months in French barrels of which about 25% are new. The wine is never oak driven.

Production typically varies from 300-450 dozen per vintage.
