About The Wine
Leroux's 2019 red burgs are supple, classy wines without the expected super-ripeness of a warm year, and with excellent cellarability.
The Vosne (rhymes with phone) Romanee is a Pinot Noir of superb drive and intensity, dark red in colour with a boisterously red-fruited palate and a gentle sappiness (45% whole bunch approx).
It's supple, a little sinewy but mostly it is a medium-bodied Burgundy with real quality fruit and a spicy, velvet feel.
About Benjamin Leroux
Burgundian native Benjamin Leroux is one of the brightest minds and winemaking talents of his generation.
Considered a winemaking prodigy from an early age, Leroux attended the Lycée Viticole in Baune at the tender age of 13. Then, at the age of just 26, he ascended to the roles of manager and winemaker in the famed cellars of Domaine Comte Armand - a remarkable vote of confidence in one so young.
In 2007 he launched his eponymous label to wide critical acclaim. His has been a meteoric rise through the ranks of Burgundy's producers. His incisive modern approach to winemaking combined with his deep knowledge and respect for tradition has seen his small, hand-crafted cuveés coveted by collectors across the world.
These wines speak eloquently of where they come from. A legend in the making, Leroux's wines are some of the most exciting in modern-day Burgundy.

Natural cork. Leroux now controls two hectares in Vosne, and the 2019 villages wine benefited from the fruit of five separate lieux-dits. Importantly, these vineyards are home to excellent vine stock—almost exclusively old selections of Pinot Fin. From north to south: Maizières Basses (organically farmed with 60-year-old Pinot Fin vines) lies on the Flagey side of the village close to Clos de Vougeot; there’s a small portion of Les Violettes this year; then there’s Leroux’s new parcel of old-vine Pinot Fin in Genaivrières sitting in the centre, close the village (just beneath those of Domaine Leroy); and finally there are Les Jacquines and Au-dessus de la Rivière, which both lie under the northern 1er Crus of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

"Each parcel was vinified separately. The 45% whole-bunch quota derives mostly from the two northern parcels. This is just a stunning example of Vosne village; it’s both opulent and full of energy. The new barrel component has been racked. The colour is a fresh mid purple, with lots of energy on the nose, and class too, with a very refined raspberry fruit, and a super succulent, but refined feel throughout, and a lifted finish. Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
