About The Wine
Beautifully fragrant and elegantly structured, Les Mitans is always a favourite 1er Cru from Ben Leroux.
It's Volnay air-kissing Chambolle, with plenty of aromatic prettiness, though with a darker fruit note that moves into aniseed/ licorice on the palate.
A touch of whole bunch stalk adds some sinewy character but this is a relatively approachable plush style that can be readily enjoyed with Sunday lunch, or a glass at half-time of the EPL (french pun we're not proud of).
About Benjamin Leroux
Burgundian native Benjamin Leroux is one of the brightest minds and winemaking talents of his generation.
Considered a winemaking prodigy from an early age, Leroux attended the Lycée Viticole in Baune at the tender age of 13. Then, at the age of just 26, he ascended to the roles of manager and winemaker in the famed cellars of Domaine Comte Armand - a remarkable vote of confidence in one so young.
In 2007 he launched his eponymous label to wide critical acclaim. His has been a meteoric rise through the ranks of Burgundy's producers. His incisive modern approach to winemaking combined with his deep knowledge and respect for tradition has seen his small, hand-crafted cuveés coveted by collectors across the world.
These wines speak eloquently of where they come from. A legend in the making, Leroux's wines are some of the most exciting in modern-day Burgundy.

From The Importer
Natural cork. ‘Mitans’ derives from the old French for centre, and fittingly, this Cru lies at the heart of the appellation (on the slopes beneath the village). This 0.65-hectare parcel is close to the Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre and encroaches into the Mitans l’Ormeau lieu-dit. The soil here is fine clay shot through with limestone, and the vines are, on average, 50 years old. Just a pinch of whole bunch this year.
Les Mitans is considered one of the most elegant, fine-boned and cerebral expressions of Volnay—even though Leroux delivers a wine of real depth and intensity. The wine is true to its terroir; it’s a delicate and perfumed Volnay that reminds of Chambolle.

The lacy, delicious and appealingly textured medium-bodied flavors possess a building intensity that culminates in a dusty and youthfully austere finish. Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
