About The Wine
The Bekkers Syrah sits in the top echelon of Shiraz wines from South Australia.
The fruit comes from two highly regarded vineyards in McLaren Vale each sporting old, low-yielding vines. Toby's vast knowledge of the great vineyards of the region is something of a secret weapon for the Bekkers husband and wife team.
It's certainly paid dividends here.
This is McLaren Vale Shiraz with power and finesse in equal portion. It's a wine that's definitely on the shortlist for the best Shiraz in the country,
About Bekkers
Toby & Emmanuelle Bekkers have a very clear vision for their work. To produce the very best wines of McLaren Vale and take them to the world...
To listen to Toby talk about it is inspiring, the wines themselves, are prodigious. There are only three wines in the range: Syrah, Grenache and a blend of the two varieties.
Toby spent years as viticulturalist for McLaren Vale stalwart Paxton. During that time he catalogued in his mind the best vineyards that someday he would use as for his own project. Emmanuelle is a talented French winemaker with a deft touch in the cellar.
Their vision is coming to fruition. The quality of these premium McLaren Vale wines is completely world-class.

"Lots of animale, meat drippings, dusty spice cupboard amongst the rich, ripe, booze-soaked berries going on here. Touches of rum and raisin in the mix, a sluice of walnut and varnish woody notes. Dark chocolate, lots of it, finishes the wine smooth and then a little gummy with bitterness. All added up there’s plenty of delight here, but those elements aren’t quite there yet and the wood spice and richness feels a bit overt currently. "Clarendon and Seaview sourcing, the former elevated at 194–242m. Yields, minuscule. Hand-picked fruit, 22–30% whole bunches, parcel-dependent. Sorted, cold soaked and fermented spontaneously, with 15–20 days of maceration. Take note! Aged in new (51%) and older puncheons. This succinct offering has impressed in the past. This year is no different. Texture, the opus. Nothing about obvious fruit. Hallelujah to that. Carnal aromas of leather, game, sandalwood, something volcanic and a mulchy fecundity. "Deep, youthfully bright red/purple colour, with a spicy, youthful shiraz aroma, seemingly cooler-grown than it is, but also concentrated and deep. The flavour penetrates very deep and is augmented by ample soft, fleshy tannins. Texturally lovely and beautifully balanced. Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
