About The Wine
Maranges is one of Burgundy's most southerly villages, at the bottom end of what is normally revered as Chardonnay country. But here you can find fantastic value Pinot Noirs...
La Fussiere is a single vineyard, and its Pinot Noir is one of Bachelet's calling cards. With 30% whole bunch and some oak aging is has plenty of structure but we like the bounce and tension of the wine that enlivens the ripe plum and black cherry characters.
Another first rate effort from the Bachelet boys, and in very short supply.
About Bachelet-Monnot
Now widely considered shining stars of Burgundy it's hard to believe that the brother Bachelet were once the new kids on the block.
Marc and Alexandre created Bachelet Monnot in 2005 with land from their father and uncle. They have small but outstanding white holdings, primarily in and around Puligny Montrachet, from which they produce pitifully small amounts of stunning crus. Their red holdings are Santenay and Maranges, lesser known villages, but ones that, in the hands of these two, should be given serious consideration.
They work all their vineyards organically and their low key winery in Dezize-les-Maranges is home to a structure driven winemaking style of precision and patience.
Stand by for an exceptional Bourgogne Blanc, show-stopping 1er Cru whites and reds that will surprise and delight with their value.
