About The Wine
Les Terres Rouges, the red earth, is a charming organic Cabernet Franc from Arnaud Lambert, sourced from the hillside of Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg in Saumur-Champigny.
The old-vine site has a southerly exposure, gaining more sunlight and heat, to give a warmer, riper heart and darker fruit notes. There are also some lovely mulchy, autumnal elements to be savoured.
Just light to medium-bodied, with no oak involvement, and some whole bunches in the ferment adding some edgy tannins.
A perfect bistro red of great quality.
About Arnaud Lambert
Young Arnaud Lambert joined his father Yves at Domaine de Saint-Just in Saumur in 2005. In 2017 his own Arnaud Lambert domaine came into being, merging into his late father's estate fruit sourced from exceptional vineyards on long-leases from the famous Chateau de Breze. His wines and his reputation have soared over the last few years.
He now manages some twenty different releases from nearly 50 hectares of wines, all now certified organic, with biodynamic certification in progress.
His whites (Chenin Blanc) and reds (Cabernet Franc) are made in decidedly Burgundian fashion, mostly individual vineyard expressions across three communes; Montsoreau and Saint-Cyr in Saumur Champigny, and Breze in Saumur itself.
