Very interesting. Different.

About The Wine
You'll drive yourself crazy trying to remember the 20 odd varieties that fuse together in these whites of Antonio Madeira but for those playing at home, this is a co-fermented field blend based on 90% of Siria, Fernão Pires, Bical, Arinto, Encruzado, Malvasia Fina and Cerceal.
A portion sees a little time in barrel and portion goes to stainless, Antonio searching for purity and freshness alongside vineyard expression.
The granite soils these vines grow on impart a distinct crushed-rock tannin profile into the wine that runs parallel to the intense acidity, making for a thoroughly interesting glass of wine.
About Antonio Madeira
Antonio Madeira is a winemaker of Portuguese decent, who was raised in France before returning to his home in the highlands of Portugal's Dao region to start his own label in 2011.
After rejuvenating some old, neglected vineyards high in the Serra da Estrela hills, Antonio set about producing a set of outstanding field blends that speak of his home. Biodynamic practices underpin the venture, as does a natural, Burgundian-inspired approach in the cellar.
Each wine is co-fermented. Antonio believes that grapes that grow together should go together. The resulting wines are startlingly pure - etched with clean lines, fresh acidity and crunchy mineral texture. Made in tiny quantities and mainlining a sense of place, these are exciting additions to the Portuguese landscape.
