About The Wine

The Adelina Shiraz Mataro showcases the exquisite old vine Clare Valley fruit that Jen Gardner and Col McBryde have at their disposal.

Over half of the fruit is sourced from vineyards 100+ years old, these are some of the Clare Valley's most precious and respected vineyards.

The wine itself is treated with the typical Adelina care: wild ferments, gentle handling, and this year a portion fermented in concrete. This is yet another remarkable release, delivering a flavour-packed yet elegant representation of old-vine Clare Valley fruit.

As a complete package, this is unbeatable value and one of the best pound-for-pound reds in the Clare Valley.

About Adelina

Col McBryde and Jennie Gardner are Adelina. A pair of smart cookies, each rocking a PhD in microbiology and between them some pretty serious winemaking chops. Together, they have formed one of the Clare Valley's most exciting wineries.

From what was a small operation that began in 2002, slowly but surely the Adelina brand has been picking up steam.

There is a delicacy and purity inherent in every wine they produce. From opulent old vine Shiraz and Mataro, to one of the country's most excellent Nebbiolo and a set of scintillating Rieslings, there is a sense of class and refinement to the whole project.

These meticulously crafted, beautifully presented wines are just a joy to drink.

The Wine Front

"This has lots going for it. Rich perfume of dark berries, sweet earth, dried flowers, very aromatic but feels kind of savoury. The palate is the same, bloody and rich, hewn with sheets of grippy, grunty tannins, upfront whips away quickly, feels tight, the finish a cavalcade of tumbling tannin, gamey fruit, piquant, tactile spice and minerally stony qualities. Boom. That somewhat missing front palate might just be the go now, but we get something serious to finish. I like it, all up." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine.
