About the Wine
The Prieler’s remain committed to the highest quality in both their viticulture and vilification methods. They run their 20 hectare holding organically and take the utmost care at every step of the winemaking journey.
This Blaufrankisch is crafted from a patchwork of vineyards with similar soils - the idea of the wine being to showcase freshness and elegance rather than power and structure. A plummy and dark-fruited wine with hints of spice and tar, layers of interest and a lovely freshness throughout.
About Weingut Prieler
Weingut Prieler is a family run, high quality producer from Burgenland, Austria focussing on Blaufrankisch and Burgundian varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc). North Burgenland is the sunniest region in all of Central Europe, also with low rainfall and a multitude of different soil types. This diversity lends itself perfectly to creating a unique and interesting set of wines that present a compelling picture of the region, told through the eyes of 2nd-generation winemaker Georg Prieler.
The family are very hands on in the vineyard, planting cover crops, rigorously pruning, managing canopies and making multiple passes during picking to ensure optimal conditions are maintained at all times.
A stellar producer flying the flag for Burgenland, Weingut Prieler wines are always thoughtful, sensitive and incredibly well made.
