About The Wine
Moreish, savoury Gruner Veltliner from the Carnuntum region of Austria, with approx. 10% Riesling in the blend, adding a zesty bounce. Wild-fermented from organic fruit, with no sulphur additions, this is full of herbal life, with a long, silky ripe stone fruit palate that sings with Wagnerian power.A few hours on skins gives the wine some texture, along with some very large oak vat maturation.
About Weingut Dorli Muhr
Weingut Dorli Murh, is named after the eponymous female owner/winemaker, the champion of Austrian red grape Blaufrankisch.
Previously a partnership with Dirk Niepoort known as Muhr-Van Der Niepoort, Dorli has been the sole owner since 2017, extending the vineyard area plot by plot, and achieving organic certification.
She is based in the winegrowing region of Carnuntum, southeast of Vienna, near the Hungarian border, the most recent Austrian wine region to earn DAC accreditation. Her most renowned vineyard on the Spitzerberg has also achieved Erste Lage (First Growth) status in Austria’s Klassifikation 2019.
Dorli makes wonderful, crunchy, pure Blaufränkisch from various sites in the stunning, limestone-rich hills of Carnuntum, as well as some complex Gruner Veltliner.
