About The Wine
There's plenty of new things happening at Spinifex. Winemaker Peter Schell never sits still for long.
Here he takes on some old vine Muscat growing in the Moppa sub-region of the Barossa Valley.
The grapes are picked by hand, fermented wild, then left to sit on lees in Acacia wood for six months before bottling.
The idea here is to enhance the textural components of the variety so the insane floral aromatics that the variety is known for don't drown out everything else.
It's a spot on release and great value if you are looking for an alternative to your classic aromatic whites.
Spinifex are one of the 'New' Barossa's true pioneer producers.
Husband and wife team Peter Schell & Magali Gely have extensive experience in southern France, which proves the inspiration for their unique wines made from predominantly Rhone varietals.
Spinifex was on the front line of the new wave of Barossa producers. Peter's wines brought a new sensibility to the region, they were lower in alcohol, concentrated but elegant, and balanced to perfection.
He takes the art of blending into the realm of the virtuoso.
There are few wineries who deliver refinement and poise from the Barossa Valley like Spinifex.
