About The Wine
The Sorrenberg Cabernet is a seriously classy mid-weight Cabernet blend. What an outstanding Australian producer they are.
Barry has made this wine since 1989 with fruit grown entirely from his own biodynamically farmed vineyard just outside Beechworth. The blend alters slightly each year, with portions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot added to the Cabernet Sauvignon base - Barry looking for elegance and suppleness in youth as well as age-ability.
The 2018 is another knockout release. The fruit reaching ripeness at moderate alcohol, the tannin structure is gorgeous. It's a wine to be enjoyed now or in a decade's time - classic stuff.
About Sorrenberg
Barry and Jan Morey planted their stunning Beechworth vineyard in 1986. Their first release in 1989 began the Sorrenberg story, a story destined to be one of Australia's great estates.
Barry farms with adherence to biodynamics, believing this to be the best way to get the most out of his home block of 2.4 Ha. on the outskirts of Beechworth. Their wines are famous for their balance and longevity. The wines are made in traditional fashion, with wild yeasts for fermentation, gentle oak maturation and basket pressing for each wine.
The Gamay is arguably their most sought after wine, however, the thumbprint of Barry's attention to detail is stamped across each release and the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and Cabernet blend are amongst the finest of heir kind in the country.
Sorrenberg is one of the true gems of Beechworth, and indeed Australian, wine.

From The Producer
The blend consists of 30-40% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, a touch of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere with the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon. Low crop level is important to ensure the fruit ripens if the weather turns and to achieve maximum flavour. Half this Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented for 2 weeks on skins with plunging of the cap 4 times a day. The remainder of this wine was fermented for 4 weeks on skins before pressing. Natural yeast is used throughout. The wine undergoes oak maturation for 24 months before final blending and bottling without filtration.

"This is to like. A softer and more succulent expression of this wine has emerged from 2018 harvest. It feels very bright, licked at by blood orange acidity, though there’s layers of flavour in dark cherry, black plum, cola and fennel-green herb characters through and through. Extension of flavour is great too – lingering smudges of lightly grippy, skinsy, mineral flecked tannin are a charm. Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
