About The Wine
There are few off-dry styles of Riesling in Australia that are executed as well as this offering from Riesling fanatic, John Hughes.
The balance in the 2018 release is excellent. From a vintage that John thinks will be an earlier drinking vintage than the tightly wound 2017's the ripeness of the fruit and the laser-like acidity all lent itself perfectly to make this more 'Germanic' expression of the Clare Valley.
This wine style matches perfectly with spicy dishes and has the balance to drink brilliantly on its own.

A producer with a single-minded varietal focus is a rarity in Australian wine, John Hughes is one of those rarities.
John was born on an old Riesling vineyard in his home of the Clare Valley. To this day he produces some of South Australia's most articulate expressions of Riesling as his sole winemaking mission.
The wines show exquisite purity and elegance and sit comfortably among the best examples that South Australia has to offer.

From The Producer
Harvested from the family vineyard, situated in White Hutt, just north of the Clare township.
The vineyard in grey clay over limestone. With the vines planted in an east/west direction. The wine is made in an ‘Off Dry’ style, containing 14g/L sugar.
The grapes were harvested on the 1st March. Very fragment on the nose, with aromas of white blossom, floral ad orange peel notes. The palate is packed full of flavour with zesty citrus, tropical and banana notes, finishing with some crunchy green apple notes, and full of flavour.

Sweetened juicy limes, blossoms, spice and a cool even flow through the palate. It's clipped by tart lemons and succulent, mouthwatering acidity. Balance is terrific. Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
